The Horseshoe Lake is the first lake that greets you when you arrive at our fisheries and is approximately 2 acres in size. A well-established lake surrounded by reeds and trees and is available for pleasure fishing and matches.

An island was created and landscaped in 2009 to enhance the fishing experience and encourage wildlife. The lake has 30 decked pegs which meet BDAA standards for disabled anglers, which makes for a comfortable days fishing. The lake is well stocked with Carp, Tench, Barbel, Ide, Roach, Bream, Rudd, Perch & Crucian carp.

We have regular open matches throughout the summer and winter and any forthcoming fixtures are listed on our Facebook page. Mid-week open matches are also available throughout the summer and winter months so please ask for details.

The Horseshoe lake is our main match lake. Clubs are welcome to book the lake, so please ask for available dates and prices.

Current 5 hour match record is over 200lbs.

Colmic Canal Lake

The 27 peg Colmic Canal Lake opened for angling in Spring 2015 and is already throwing up match winning weights of 200lbs.

This lake was constructed using laser measuring equipment to ensure all pegs present uniform swims where anglers will have an equal chance of catching.

Depths of this lake are 6 foot deep in the channel with 2 foot deep in the marginal shelf around the island and inside margins. The distance to the island from each peg is approximately 13 metres.

Fish stocks in this lake are Carp, Barbel, Ide, Chubb, Roach, Tench, Bream and Perch.

Fishing Tips

  • The most popular technique so far has been to fish the pole to the island using a 6mm banded pellet whilst feeding 4mm pellets.

  • For huge bags of silvers fishing maggots shallow and bottom of first shelf.

In 2017, we drained the lake and re-homed our bigger fish to the House Pool, de-silting took place and 15 new large spacious pegs was constructed to one side of the lake.

We can now offer small clubs and pleasure fishing on this lake with a wide range of species including Carp, Barbel, Ide, Roach, Perch, Bream and Tench.

  • Fishing down the channel at 12 metres with a pole using 4mm expander pellet and feeding micro pellets for Carp.

  • Fishing to the far bank with a rod and using a small pellet/method feeder with 6mm banded pellet with micro pellets in the feeder for Carp

  • Fishing at 6 metres with a pole using maggots shallow and on the bottom.
